About Purple Rock

Rolande Duprey founded Purple Rock Productions in February of 1985 with the full-length hand puppet production of "Spinning Straw Into Gold". Since then, Purple Rock Productions have presented a wide variety of programming at many locations throughout the Northeast. Rolande Duprey is a Teaching Artist with the State of Connecticut. Purple Rock Productions now offers two productions in repertory: Spinning Straw Into Gold and Rapunzel, and the interactive street entertainment, Wonderful Walkabouts. Rolande's Master of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut (in puppetry) was conferred in December of 1992. In 2013 she earned a Master of Science of Library and Information Science from Simmons University. She has taught puppet workshops and classes at various colleges and universities and written articles for trade publications. Since 2019 she has worked at the East Hartford Public Library as an Adult Services Librarian, developing programs for the EHPL YouTube channel as well as in-person programs for all ages.
